The importance of engaging more women in enterprise was highlighted by the Government in its recently published enterprise strategy, 'Enterprise; unlocking the UK’s talent’. ‘Women represent half the UK’s population, but are the largest under-represented group in the UK in terms of participation in enterprise and offer a wealth of untapped talent and economic opportunity.’

A fact not lost in the latest Government Enterprise Strategy which recognises the importance of the right level of mentoring and support being necessary to help and encourage our women entrepreneurs to start and develop their businesses.

Wendy Bowers is the Lancashire representative on the Northwest Development Agency Womens’ Forum and is instrumental in influencing the delivery of business
support to women across the North West.

Through this involvement at the heart of the women in business initiative, together with her own business and her work with the Guardian Angel Network, Wendy is already a driving force in the promotion and support of female enterprise.

A commitment confirmed with the launch of Wendy’s SAFE Network - Supporting the Advancement of Female Enterprise - a safe haven for would be entrepreneurs and women with established businesses to share values and concerns and support each other in only the way women can.
